Ride to Restore on 10/25

Friends of the Major Taylor Trail and Friends of the Forest Preserves (FOTFP) are having a ride, tour and workday on Saturday 10/25.  Join us for a ride along the trail from Dan Ryan Woods to Whistler Woods.

FOTFP will offer a tour and snacks at Whistler. It's a beautiful site with prairie, wetland and savanna ecosystems. Shoes you can walk in are recommended for the tour. The estimated return time below includes time for the tour.

If you'd like to be part of a stewardship workday at Whistler, part of the group will stay a bit longer. We'll help with invasive species removal, trash pickup and burning of brush piles and get a more in-depth look at the site.  Hiking boots or work boots are recommended for this. Gloves and tools will be provided.  Return time to Dan Ryan Woods would be slightly later for this option.
Total distance is about 12 miles, easy pace.  Start location is 83rd St. trailhead - enter from parking lot on NORTH side of 83rd St. between Western and Damen.
Please be at the start location by 10:00 a.m. We'd like to get rolling no later than 10:15.
