non sequitur Friday

It's all about randomness - featuring Robbie Fulks (Mr. Sarcasm) today. He's my favorite alt country singer, who got his start on our local Bloodshot Records label. Check him out. TGIF!

Hey Ridge 99....

Know any good spots in Beverly where a person could sit and write? Those coffee shops close early, and Borders is....meh...

Hmmm....that's a good question. I wish we had a coffee shop that was open late every night. I like Jimmy Jamm, but they close early, too.

The library on 95th is only open until 8 on 2 nights (Mon, Wed) since the budget cuts, and it's busier than ever when it is open.

Iona's at 95th and Wood is a nice spot, but sometimes it's a bit lively for writing unless you're using an iPod or equivalent. They have a nice selection of tea, coffee and food, but they're only open 'til 7, except Wednesday nights, when they have music 'til 10. If you like some jazz to get you in a writing mood, I highly recommend it.

I like Blue Moon for writing, but I understand that Caroline doesn't want to be open late every night.

Still on the lookout for a place I like that's open past 6 or 7 most nights....
