When you advocate cutting city workers pensions and increasing their retirement age, you will win the Chicago Tribune endorsement. Representing the amount of city workers in the 19th ward, our new alderman better have sacrificed this endorsement. You cannot always tell people what they want to hear.

daley recently proposed increasing employee pension contributions (but the city will NOT match) http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/clout_st/2011/01/police-firefighters-would-pay-more-pension-costs-under-daley-administration-proposal.html

oshea said in his tribute interview that he would favor doing this too

Yes but Schaible said in the Chicago Tribune :

The answer to this problem can only be a long term pension bond, which would saddle the city with additional debt. That will have to be accompanied by pension benefit reductions (to the extent they are even allowed by law), additional employee contributions, and higher retirement ages, regardless of how small.

I see she promotes reductions in benefits and higher contributions I guess the higher retirement age is ok because under her plan the employee will have so little they will have to work longer!

Thats what MAtt said he wants to do.

Matt stated, "The city must honor its commitment to employees by providing the benefits they were promised when hired. Reducing these benefits for the existing employees is unconstitutional, and should not be explored."
You are right! This is the exact same as the rich doctor's idea for making the city workers she would represent bleed!
I am sure she is a nice person, but she does not understand the electing body she is trying to ineffectively woe. She does understand the Tribune. You go girl!
