a loss to the neighborhood
Tomorrow we will lose another neighborhood small business. Business has been bad for a while, for too long. It seems that folks around here value corporate sameness more than independent businesses.
Blue Moon Cafe will be closing its doors for good at 5 p.m. Caroline Mooney has given us many special things - special events for kids, Mardi Gras nights, live music, political discussion nights, and foreign language round tables. For me, Blue Moon has been a pleasant home away from home when I wanted to escape from the cats for a while.
She's selling off coffee beans, Maui, Tazo and Torani products. You've still got a chance to pick some up tomorrow before she closes.
I've enjoyed many delicious lunches and time spent chatting with Caroline. I'll miss her delicious cookies and sandwiches. 99th Street won't be the same without her.
