Bethany Union Church, 1750 W. 103rd St.
The drive is organized by Working Bikes, an organization that sends bikes to developing countries for use as basic transportation. Bring your bikes tomorrow, Sat. 9/10, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Working Bikes 10th anniversary
Working Bikes is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this Saturday 9/26, 6-10 pm at its "new" location, 2434 S. Western Ave. There will be live music, food and Fat Tire and Hoptoberfest beer provided by New Belgium Brewing.
Over the last ten years Working Bikes has gathered, repaired and distributed about 10,000 bikes in the Midwest and about 30,000 bikes internationally, providing sustainable transportation all over the planet, making people smarter and healthier and the earth a better place to be. Celebrate 10 years of community service and international aid!

bike drive for Working Bikes Cooperative
Neighborhood high school students Madeleine Senko and Madeline Lindsey are collecting used bikes and bike parts that can be repaired and used to help others in need of transportation on Sat., 7/11, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Beverly Bank, 1908 W.
103rd St. Bikes will be donated to Working Bikes Cooperative, a volunteer, non-profit organization that repairs donated bicycles and ships them to communities in need around the world. Many of these bikes will end up providing affordable transportation to people in developing countries. Any bike is a welcome donation. Bikes and bike parts, even if they are broken, rusted or old will be gratefully accepted. Last year almost 100 bikes were donated at the Beverly Bike Drive. If you need pick-up or more information call 773-238-4044 or 773-233-5143.

new wheels
It was great to read this article about Working Bikes Cooperative doing a bike give-away for the homeless. It's a fine way to offer sustainable transportation to folks who really need it.
