after the fire

On Saturday afternoon, the Chicago Fire Department spent several hours attacking and containing a major fire that severely damaged a 5-story residential building at 2030 W. 111th St.  About 120 fire fighters and EMTs and 40 trucks and ambulances were involved in the effort.  All residents, fire fighters and EMTs are safe.  Unfortunately, the building is uninhabitable, leaving 64 Morgan Park residents without a home.

In order to help those displaced by the fire, Alderman Matt O'Shea and State Rep. Monique Davis are working to provide assistance to residents of the burned building.  If you would like to help, donations in the form of gift cards to retailers such as Jewel, Walgreens, Target, Kohl's and others, or Visa gift cards, are being collected at the offices of Alderman O'Shea (10400 S. Western) and Rep. Davis (1234 W. 95th St.).
